RiSe, a member of the South Korean girl group Ladies’ Code, died on Saturday following a car crash. The same accident killed bandmate EunB a few days earlier.
She succumbed to injuries that she sustained during the incident, according to Korean media websites.
Ladies’ Code’s management agency, Polaris Entertainment, wrote, “Kwon RiSe went to heaven on September 7, 10:10 a.m.”
It added: “Although every attempt at surgery and treatment was tried after she sustained serious injury to her head during the accident that occurred in the early morning of September 3, RiSe drew her final breath,”according to Soompi.com.
Polaris added: “We cannot hold back our apologies and also our grief in relaying this sad news following the news of EunB. We ask that many pray for these two members and for the remaining members, as well, who are most saddened.”
On Twitter, a large number of people were tweeting “RIPRiSe” Saturday to remember her.
Here’s the original statement about the car crash that killed EunB originally:
“Near Suwon around 1:30 AM, the car that Ladies’ Code had been riding in after finishing up their schedule in Daegu experienced a problem where the back wheel came off,” reads a statement from the group’s management. “With the back wheel coming off on the rainy road, the car ended up spinning several times before hitting the guard rail. Due to this, EunB tragically passed away. Currently, RiSe is in critical condition and Sojung is receiving treatment for her injuries. The other members and the manager and stylist have no big injuries.”
According to Hollywood Take, EunB’s funeral was held this week.
“Ashley and Zuny visited EunB’s wake with staff personnel at 5:30AM,” a representative for Polaris, Ladies’ Code’s agency, told the website. “Ashley and Zuny are still in shock and cried a lot.”
A few days ago, a spokesperson said RiSe had not regained consciousness.
“The biggest concern is whether RiSe will survive,” a hospital spokesperson told Hollywood Take. “She has yet to regain consciousness, and is still in the neurosurgical intensive care unit (ICU) to address the significant injuries to her head. RiSe remains in critical condition and the most immediate issue is her survival. The fact that doctors interrupted her surgery shows how serious her condition is.”
